Solemnity of Sts Peter and Paul
Acts 12:1-11 | Psalm 34 | 2 Tim 4:6-8, 17-18 | Matt 16:13-19
Acts 3:1-10 | Psalm 19:2-3,4-5 | Gal 1:11-20 | John 21:15-19
Dear one,
Your identity is not found in marriage, but in me. Peter was married, but found who he was when he dropped everything and followed me. When I come first all relationships overflow with love in your life because I am a God of abundance.
I asked Peter 3 times if he loved me after he denied me. I ask you today, "Do you love me?" To what length do you love me? Do you love me more than others? Are you attached to anything or anyone above me?
Paul explained that a season or life of singleness does provide for less distraction in following me. Marriage requires caring for a spouse and helping them get to heaven. That takes a lot! In singleness, it's just you and me as you lean on my love alone.
I invite you to challenge yourself to follow Paul's example of consulting me before concerning yourself with opinions of those around you. Many thought Peter and Paul were strange, but they were may fools who trusted in my ways. Though you may be afraid of the unknown, I provide the courage to follow me and live out your mission.
Love,
Jesus
